The genesis of food service dates back to ancient times where different street vendors and public cooks were available in ancient Rome in the form of gallerias; spacious passageways with alluring blend of spices, rich slightly earthy almost narcotic smell of truffles, pasta and sweet prosciutto, vegetables and fish.
The history of the inception dates back in 1970 where Gaetano Pernice during his military service in Italy spent 2 years in the kitchen as a Chef. Aspired by what a genuine Italian cuisine had to offer, 2 years later Gaetano immigrated to America to embark on his dream and built his own Galleria.
Soon after living his big American dream he met with his wife Marianna and had his 3 children; Enza, Maria and Ciro.
After years of collaborative hard work, the inauguration of the first Galleria became true and gained recognition. As the business expanded, several other places followed some of which were in Amityville, Garden City, Patchogue and Boca Raton in Florida.
Not far from its first inaugural place, Galleria finally reached the place of its establishment; Merrick of New York, the landmark restaurant of South shore where all three children joined dad in the business. Now, over 30 years with the passion and contribution of family, Galleria has nothing but to provide the best original Italian Mediterranean cuisine.
Our passion is to proudly continue to serve our customers with loyalty providing them with the best ingredients and imported products the market can offer directly from Italy.
